This site is always a work in progress. It is going slowly because I have to type with one finger (repetitive stress from too much computer use has caught up with my right arm), and there just aren't enough hours in the day.
A couple major projects I plan to finish are: 1) Asa Bigelow's Civil War letters - transcription, and 2) the results of my research into the Bowes family history back to Ireland. When these are done I will include them under the Histories tab.
In addition I have lots more data to load. Believe it or not, I am periodically contacted by distant relatives who find this site on the web and learn more about their family from it. That keeps me going when the evergrowing database of names, dates and places begins to feel senseless. The interesting part for me is learning about historical events through the lives of my ancestors. Meanwhile, I figure that if I'm the one with genealogy information that others are looking for, I should try to make it available.
NB: When using the Ancestors and Descendants tabs for an individual, the default generations to show is six. This loads faster and displays better than increasing it to the maximum number of generations available to show in some cases. Showing fewer generations is useful for the Standard, Compact, Box and Text views under "Ancestors", and the Compact view under "Descendants". When switching to the Ahnentafel view under "Ancestors,"or the Text and Register views under "Descendants", you should change the allowable generations to show to 25. That will include all of the longest lines we have recorded.
If you have any questions or comments about the information on this site, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
