"The standing brother is Edmund. As you can see, the brothers didn't look much alike. Everyone in Warren used to call Walt "Swede" because as a kid, he was very blond.I was always amused because Walt had a Boston accent and Ed was pretty much without an accent, like a newscaster. Kate made them promise always to stay in touch, and they did, but I would not say they were close. Both served in the South Pacific during WWII, but I don't think they saw combat. Ed was a supply officer on New Caledonia, and Walt served on some kind of small ship, not a PT boat."
